• „The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” gewinnt “best of gamescom award” 2016
• „Playstation VR“ gewinnt die Kategorie „Best Hardware“
• „For Honor“ überzeugt in insgesamt zwei Kategorien
• Neue Kategorien gamescom award für „Beste Erweiterung“, „Beste Preview/Vision“ und „Bestes Standkonzept“ werden durch „Destiny: Rise of Iron”, „Horizon – Zero Dawn” und „Mafia III“ besetzt
• Publikumspreis „Most Wanted Consumer award” geht an „Battlefield 1”

Die Gewinner des gamescom awards 2016 stehen fest: Die Preisverleihung fand am Freitag, 19. August 2016, auf der social media stage statt. Aus über 200 Einreichungen für den begehrtesten Preis der europäischen Games-Industrie wählte die diesjährige internationale Expertenjury die 73 nominierten Produkte und Spiele aus. Jetzt stehen die Gewinner in allen Kategorien fest.

Die Sieger der gamescom awards 2016 stehen fest: Den begehrten „best of gamescom award“ konnte sich in diesem Jahr „The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild“ von Nintendo sichern. „For Honor“ von Ubisoft überzeugte die Jury gleich in zwei Kategorien und holte sich die Awards als bestes PlayStation-4- und bestes PC-Spiel. Als bestes Spiel für die Xbox One wurde „Sea of Thieves“ von Microsoft ausgezeichnet, Sieger auf der Wii U wurde „The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild“ von Nintendo, die sich mit „Mario Party Star Rush“ auch den Award für das beste Mobile-Spiel sichern konnten. Passend zum gamescom-Trend „Virtual Reality“ überzeugte „PlayStation VR“ als beste neue Hardware die Jury, „Wilson's Heart“ von Twisted Pixel gewann den Award als bestes Virtual-Reality-Spiel. Premiere feierten in diesem Jahr die Kategorien „Bestes Standkonzept“, „Beste Erweiterung“ und „Beste Preview/Vision“. Hier sicherten sich der Stand zu „Mafia III“ von 2K, Activision Blizzard mit „Destiny: Rise of Iron“ und Sony mit „Horizon – Zero Dawn“ die Trophäen. In der Gunst des Publikums stand „Battlefield 1“ ganz oben, das den Most Wanted Consumer award in diesem Jahr gewonnen hat.
